En el octavo episodio de Atlas Aquática, se realizó una inmersión profunda en torno a lo bueno, lo malo y los retos del turismo oceánico, mediante una mesa de análisis con Octavio Aburto, Andrés Cisneros y Micheline Cariño, especialistas en diferentes áreas (conservación ambiental, economía e historia) que se interconectan y brindan un panorama amplio del tema.

Así, el Dr. Octavio Aburto profundizó en lo bueno del turismo oceánico, mostrando los beneficios del contacto con la naturaleza y cómo algunas zonas pueden aprovecharse de sus especies carismáticas para fomentar el turismo, protegerlas y obtener ganancias económicas. Mientras que la Dra. Micheline Cariño, se focalizó en lo malo, revelando que la masificación de actividades y la turistización son los mayores problemas de tal actividad. Por su parte, Andrés Cisneros, ahondó en los retos que afronta el turismo marino: valorar más las economías locales, apostar por un modelo de economía azul, un buen manejo de servicios y un cambio en la percepción de los turistas son algunos de ellos.

Mientras que en La pesca y la cesta, la colaboradora y periodista gastronómica Raquel Villanueva, charló con el reconocido chef Aquiles Chávez, quien proporcionó algunos datos culinarios basados en la sustentabilidad y además, presentó su libro “Aguas con Aquiles”, el cual contiene recetas sencillas e innovadoras de especies marinas disponibles en México, acompañadas de ilustraciones, notas sobre cada especie y otra información para ser un mejor consumidor y cocinero de platillos del mar.

Finalmente en A bordo, Vicente Ferreyra, director de Sustentur con una larga experiencia en turismo sustentable, explicó los temas urgentes por atender en tal sector así como el futuro que le augura y las acciones que los turistas pueden realizar para generar un menor impacto al viajar. También contó su relación con el mar y sobre la conexión que su sitio marino favorito tiene con el espectacular tiburón ballena.
