En el episodio 13 de Atlas Aquática, el oleaje trajo consigo nuevas historias. Así, en Mar y letras, la poeta Julia Santibáñez platicó sobre parte de la obra literaria y vida de Alfonsina Storni y Terry Tempest Williams, dos mujeres íntimamente relacionadas con el mar.

Y ante las vacaciones de Semana Santa en la sección Escafandra, Horacio Pérez España, Dr. en Ciencias Marinas y especialista en arrecifes coralinos, explicó qué es el ecoturismo, cómo se realiza en playas de Veracruz, el contexto general de esta práctica en costas nacionales y brindó algunos consejos para ser turistas responsables con el entorno.

Mientras que en la sección A bordo, Judith Castro quien es vocera de la comunidad de Cabo Pulmo, compartió cómo la pandemia repercutió en el ecoturismo de este lugar pero al mismo tiempo, trajo beneficios para la salud del mar y para estrechar lazos familiares. También comentó el largo camino que enfrentó su comunidad para lograr un modelo exitoso de turismo sostenible en el que destacó que “la conservación no tiene día de descanso” y brindó algunos tips para que los turistas no perjudiquen los sitios que visitan. 

Finalmente en la sección Tu manglar, la Dra. Claudia Teutli, especialista en restauración de manglares y servicios ecosistémicos, detalló las funciones ambientales que cumplen los ecosistemas de manglares y cómo se han protegido en México, donde ocupan el cuarto lugar a nivel mundial por su gran extensión.
